📘 Generic worked example — not a real student's record
A de-identified illustration of the Clinical Psychology (Post-Registration) pathway (Deakin H745 → PsyBA clinical endorsement), to help you plan with full foresight. All figures are public Deakin/PsyBA data; the timeline shown is illustrative for a student starting today, not anyone's real calendar.

This path: the example follows a registered psychologist converting to clinical endorsement. Other paths — school-leaver · undergrad · career-pivoter · lifelong-learner — plug into the same engine (Career Explorer, coming soon).
The whole journey, on one line
From here to a clinical psychology area-of-practice endorsement — the Master is the qualification limb; a 2-year registrar program follows.
The 8-credit-point structure
Each unit = 1 cp: 7 core units + 1 elective, plus DAI001 (a 0-cp compulsory academic-integrity module). The award is granted on passing all 8 cp — there is no partial exit.
Award = 8/8 cp passed. H745 course rule ↗
Six questions this pathway answers
- When do I finish? Part-time (the only H745 mode) — the standard sequence is ~2 years; the last two units are each offered once a year, so the tail is fixed.
- How do credits work? Pass each unit → its 1 cp counts; award at 8/8 cp. H745 rule ↗
- How many units? 7 core + 1 elective (+ the 0-cp DAI001 module), with placement units gated by prior units.
- Entirely online? No — some units are on-campus, one has a 5-day intensive, and placement units run ~50 days on site.
- Transcript / graduate? Results release ~2 weeks after final teaching; conferral at the next graduation round; free digital transcript via My eQuals.
- Clinical endorsement? A PsyBA registrar program (88 wks / 3000 hrs) after conferral → endorsed ~2 years later.

Every unit · sequence · mode
H745 units are Ungraded Pass/Fail (hurdle) — only the elective carries a numeric mark. So the course is a hurdle map, not a grade-trend line. The typical part-time sequence over ~2 years:

|---|---|---|---|
| HPY715 | Clinical Governance | Yr 1 · T2 | Online |
| HPY728 | Applied Methods for Prof. Practice elective | Yr 1 · T2 | Online |

The clinical endorsement pathway
H745 is, by design, "a pathway for registered psychologists to gain an area of practice endorsement to work as a clinical psychologist." The qualification limb is met on conferral; then the registrar program.
Three limbs (all required)
Registrar program — this tier (Masters / approved to 6th year)
Quoted verbatim from the PsyBA Registrar program requirements table. Prior experience does not reduce these — they're set by qualification, not experience.
Supervision composition rules
- ≥ 66% of supervision one-on-one (individual)
- ≥ 50% with a principal supervisor endorsed in clinical psychology
- ≤ 33% with a non-endorsed secondary supervisor
How you start & the forms
The money — whole-pathway totals
H745 is a domestic full-fee place (not Commonwealth-supported) with FEE-HELP available to defer tuition. The single biggest swing is whether registrar supervision is employer-provided or self-funded.
| Item | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Whole course (8 units) | ~$33,800 | 8 × $4,225/unit, indicative rate (FEE-HELP deferrable); later years ~+CPI |
| Per-unit (context) | $4,225 | indicative full-fee rate per credit point |
| Graduation — in absentia | $0 | free; attendance fee extra (amount not published) |
| Transcript / AHEGS (My eQuals) | $0 | free digital, for Oct-2018+ graduates |
| Registrar program approval (AEAP-76) | $243 | once, at program start |
| Endorsement application (AECR-76) | $243 | on completion |
| Annual registration × ~2 (during registrar) | ~$908 | ~$454/yr (2024/25; 2025/26 ~$471 — confirm) |
| Supervision — 80 hrs | $0 – ~$17,360 | $0 if employer-provided; ~$217/hr if self-funded |
| CPD / PD (80 hrs) | $0 – ~$3,000 | free webinars → paid workshops |
| Endorsement phase total | ~$1,400 – ~$21,500 | employer-supervised → fully self-funded |
| Whole course + endorsement | ~$35,200 – ~$55,300 | tuition via FEE-HELP + endorsement phase |
Two realistic scenarios — the endorsement phase
Tuition (~$33.8k via FEE-HELP) is broadly fixed; the phase that actually swings is the registrar / endorsement stage, shown here.
